Internet
I was quite surprised when we got our first dial-up modem and a rinky-dink ultra little computer. It wouldn’t even hold one song if it depended on its life. 32 or 64k. Ludicrous isn’t it? That was in the 90s of last century and it certainly feels like we have all come a long way since then doesn’t it? But, how far have we come? Hey, I know, it depends but does it? It depends on whether we are speaking of technology or civilization.
I was around fifteen when I read the book, “Guadalcanal Diary.” That was yet another bloody and savage battle as we began taking the Pacific Islands back from the Japs. I told you, political correctness belongs where the sun don’t shine. I calls ’em as I sees ’em and I know what the Japs did to our men in WW 2. They weren’t politically correct. Not even a smidge.
So, as to how far we’ve come in this last century is as far as we’ve come in the last ten thousand years. Sure, tech is going great guns and medicine is also. But we, you and I, are still stuck in imperfection and it shows doesn’t it? Iran. Korea, Vietnam, WW 2,WW 1, Civil War, War of 1812. Hell, how about those pesky neighbors? We get nowhere quite quickly as a species because of Adam and Eve. I suppose you would have to have been there? They both took a bite from an apple (or some such fruit), One bite and look where they sank all of us to generation after generation, War after war and neighbor after neighbor. Nothing has changed but our occupations and a new restaurant coming into your town. You have to be able to stay alive to go there though so watch your sixes.
All of this begun by the internet or those who just like the flow of blood? When you compare the two, only one can totally ruin your day. Stay safe and sane, is my motto and this comes from an old vet who lost his sanity for a decade or two, probably before you were even born.
