Considerations

Before we believe in something we have to know a little about that something. If we speak of material goods then we do our homework, figure out what it is we want and what it will do for us (a new computer comes to mind), and how we will approach the way we will use it. Is it for home, for work, for teaching others, or just plain recreation such as gaming? Where will this new thing reside? And, more than any of the foregoing, how will it help us in our lives?

Now, we have to aim a bit higher and merely look up into the night sky. Assuming the night is clear, how far can you see into that night sky? Unless you are a scientist, you have no conception of the distance you are able to see. To be honest, we have to also recognize that science could not have made this night sky. There is no way to corral the number of atoms and electrons it takes into so cohesive a semblance of order. If we are looking for the impossible look no further than up!

Our approach to life should be one of humility shouldn’t it? I mean, if the night sky is any indication, there is much more to a life than living and breathing, working and playing, loving and hating. Much more but . . . then we have our world and its demands. There are other demands also but a person kind of needs to relax their dependence on the world to understand the other thing. The other thing is God which is why I suggest looking at the night sky.

We believe in the night sky but have trouble with science telling us how to perceive it. Mathematics is how they perceive it but is there more than math to the night sky. Well, math is for science to chart it and study it but not how to figure out how it got there in the first place. A “Big Bang,” (the name of one scientific theory for the beginning of the universe) results in chaos so one needs a bit more creativity of thought than the mathematical way of seeing everything. After all, mathematics was invented, not out there in the night sky but right here on earth. One might wonder if mathematics is universal or just an invention of we who live here to figure out how many apples we have in front of us. If we have four apples and one is taken away we have three apples. Simple. Not so out there, as this method of figuring out how space got here is not simple. It is so complex that we throw our hat at theory about how it got here. It was created to be what it is. That is how simple this problem actually is and the mind that created it is infinite in thought process. There are no simple answers and God is not simple to understand either.

This is why so many do not believe now. Science has attempted to replace the overall simplicity that God requires of us which is why He made us the way we are.. Try digging a hole on the beach and then trying to put the ocean in that hole. It won’t work will it? This is the beginning of understanding God so He wrote the bible for us to know all we need to know about Him and how He looks at us with love for us in His eyes. Keep it simple is His advice for us as we know next to nothing of the “Grand Scheme.”

Yet, we flail and invent and not a whole lot gets better. Is there a reason for this? That reason is that we are imperfect, mistake prone, and out of our element if we do not understand that God is real and we are quite small. Small in comparison to His right hand. That hand will be visible soon as will His Son, Jesus.
