Myself & God

It’s been a long time, seventy-seven years, that I have whole heartedly believed in God and His Son, Jesus. When I say this you must realize that at times I doubted my beliefs. The reasons for my doubting, looking back, was that I was not praying as much as I should have been. Prayer keeps a Christian grounded in his or her faith. The more you pray the more likely it is that your prayers will be answered. When they are answered you very well may miss it as you were wanting something else. This is why I preach that God and we are not on the same wavelength. He knows a bit more than you or I and what He thinks you need is correct and this may very well come with problems for you to work out all by yourself. He works with you silently and a bit surreptitiously at times.

My, my . . . it is a conundrum at times isn’t it? This is exactly where faith comes to bear which is the result of all the prayer you have sent to Him. I can’t number the times I have heard people say, “I’ve prayed to Him for years and He never answered my prayer!” Were you asking Him for the wrong things? I don’t ask people that but it is usually pretty obvious that they have not built a belief system through prayer. PRAYER – It was instigated by God to be used regularly and not sporadically. It is to be sincere and sincere is not asking for money, girls or boyfriends or the score of a football game. “God, let my team win!” Are you kidding me?!!!

A life with God, done properly and according to His wishes, fulfills more than money or ballgame scores. It paves a path in righteousness and allows God to guide you with only a prayerful request. Prayer is not for the proud is it? A proud person thinks they don’t need God. A fatal mistake in eternal dogma. A dogma that is insured against those who sin egregiously against God and His word.

Don’t worry, you can start to pray right now and if you are sincere He will listen. It is His listening that bolsters your faith but you won’t know that as there is no rolling thunder or flashes of lightening. It is a calm and hidden thing that you will feel as your life and your mind heal from all the wrong you were doing, before you decided that He is real. It is a richness in faith that will guide you the rest of your life, content, even if you have nothing. Ask Lazarus whom God’s Son, Jesus, waited three days after Lazarus died to reawaken him to life. You know the state of a body three days dead don’t you. Odorous in the extreme. yet, the sister of Lazarus asked Jesus to come and save her brother but Jesus allowed the time of those three days so that his resurrection of Lazarus would be recorded. Ask your doctor if he or she could give life back to a three day old corpse. Jesus did this with a word or two.

This is what I am doing here, attempting to bring faith to those who have shunned it all this time. It is not too late. He awaits your prayers to Him through His son, Jesus as that is the way God arranged it to be. Jesus died to save you and I and I, for one, am grateful as this is my hope for my sometimes squalid excuse for a life.

I live as much as I can by the bible these days. It is not easy as old habits die hard. Even so, I may very well be judged for things I have done. That’s fine, as I knew I was making mistakes when I was making mistakes and it all comes out in the wash, doesn’t it?
